Comparison of the Effectiveness of Visual Thinking Strategy Between Persian Miniature and Classical Painting in Learning Medical Humanities from the Perspective of Medical Students

Background: Visual thinking strategy (VTS) is an interdisciplinary education that focuses on art. In this method, all students think about complex artistic elements. VTS uses visual literacy to teach communication skills and thinking. Objectives: This study aims compare the educational effectiveness of Persian pictures with classical painting, which leads teaching concepts medical humanities using students’ perspective. Methods: cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, clinical course (trainees interns, 4th - 7th year medicine) in second semester 2021 academic attended a discussion session, contained three paintings, including western Safavid era miniature, contemporary painting. At end opinion poll criteria was completed by separately for each results were analyzed. Results: According findings, our intervention improved auditory sensitivity, accuracy attention, interaction cooperation others, teamwork, understanding their share group. addition, from perspective miniature students, field played prominent role reducing job exhaustion, anxiety, stress, created sense calm aesthetics applying topics issues day paying attention socio-cultural issues. Classical painting conveyed discomfort students. Based interpretive content analysis, kind had profound effect meaning transmission so it exposed comprehensive views subject viewer’s sight. Given contains various symbols express details social context cultural traditions related human beings, conveys variety senses. On other hand, use discussions more than miniature. Conclusions: Miniature can have helpful effects improving professional similar topics.
